What this course is about
In the 21st Century the emphasis on teaching and learning is not just on content. The emphasis is more about what learners are able to do with the information that is so readily available. Learners need to know how to access information, evaluate it and create something new from it. They also need to know how to keep learning — and how to make effective and innovative use of what they know — throughout their lives.
The key drivers of globalization and technology are changing the world in which we live and the workplace. We live in a data economy and young people need a different set of skills to help them make sense of it. As much as students need to learn academic content, they also need to know how to keep learning and make effective and innovative use of what they know throughout their lives.
Do we as teachers know what this means or how to develop the some of the skills needed for the 21st century workplace?
This course will show teachers how to teach young children to be critical thinkers.
Who should be doing this course?
Intermediate and Senior phase teachers who want to develop critical thinking in children from Grade 4 to 7.
