What Is This Course About?
This course is designed to teach the basic principles of stress management and relaxation training. The course will take learner-participants through the basics of stress management. The course includes understanding stress, the mind and emotion involved in the stress reaction, the body’s stress response and effect on anatomy and physiology, the role of nutrition, emotional well-being and daily relaxation time for optimal health and well-being. The course will give an overview and practical experience of developing and maintaining a healthy body and mind.
Who Should Be Doing This Course?
This course will help anyone who wants to learn more about managing their own stress levels, thereby developing resilience, and also then paying it forward by teaching or supporting others around them. It would also provide practical educational and experiential tools for health workers, wellness educators, that is, volunteers in the workplace who would like to learn more in order to teach and support their peers. Anyone who wants to improve the health and well-being of his/her own family and community will also find the course helpful.
The primary purpose of this online course is to provide the education and support to enhance positive, health enhancing behaviour, while decreasing negative, risky, health harming behaviour through learning and understanding, then taking self-responsibility for the health and well-being of oneself while enabling others to do the same. This particular course will then be based on understanding stress, exploring stress solution based tools and techniques, as well as creativity, and expanding the knowledge base into the workplace, families and communities.
After completion of this course, candidates should:
- Be able to define and conceptualise stress and its management, and understand the important effect of the educational approach for sustainable and lasting stress management behaviour and change.
- Have a workable knowledge of basic stress anatomy, physiology, wellness, nutrition, stress management, relaxation techniques and mental-emotional health, and be able to share this with others
- Understand how to integrate the above into a practical health solution driven approach to living a calm and relaxed life based on developing inner core resilience.
Participants in the online wellness courses are there to learn and then impart knowledge and practical information, encourage, support, and promote healthy living, to create a ripple effect throughout the workforce, families and communities.
How Is Your Course Mark Is Calculated?
Your course mark is calculated using the average mark obtained in each of the Chapter tests. In order to pass this course, you must obtain a final course mark of at least 50%. This means that even if you fail a few of the chapter tests, if your test marks in the other chapter tests are high enough you will still be able to pass the course. Good Luck!

We’ve created our courses to suit your busy life! The duration of this course is based on a student guide where one 300 – 500 word article is read per day, and the assessment is done on a separate day after the relevant articles have been reviewed. But you can do the course in your own time and at your own pace. If you choose to do two readings per day, it will take you half of the estimated time, four readings per day means doing the course in a quarter of the time etc. We leave that decision up to you!
